A MATCH listing, worked honestly, in 8 weeks
A merchant was added to the MATCH list following a dispute with a prior acquirer over excessive chargebacks, and had spent the following months applying to acquirer after acquirer without a single one returning even a conditional quote. Some of those applications were made without disclosing the listing, which cost time when it surfaced during underwriting anyway.
This case runs longer than most on this page, and we said so from the first call. A MATCH listing is a five-year mark that a defined, smaller set of acquirers will assess case by case; it is not something a fee removes, and anyone claiming otherwise is not being straight with the merchant.
What was actually brokenThe merchant's prior applications had gone to acquirers who do not assess MATCH-listed merchants under any circumstances, so every one of those declines was guaranteed before submission regardless of the file quality.
The underlying chargeback dispute that caused the listing had never been fully documented from the merchant's side, which meant even the acquirers who do assess listed merchants case by case had nothing to weigh in the merchant's favor.
The route we placedJurisdiction and structure type only. We never name the institutions involved.
- 1
We identified the narrower set of acquirers whose underwriting policy explicitly allows case-by-case review of MATCH-listed merchants, rather than continuing to apply broadly.
- 2
We built a complete remediation file: the original dispute circumstances from the merchant's side, chargeback-ratio history since the listing, and the operational changes made to prevent a repeat, submitted transparently rather than around the listing.
- 3
We sequenced a single, fully-prepared application to the best-fit acquirer rather than parallel applications, because a second MATCH-aware decline narrows the field further for the next attempt.
An honest 8 weeks, longer than most placements, disclosed as such from the first call.
Weeks 1-2
MATCH-aware acquirer shortlist
Identified the narrow set of acquirers whose policy allows case-by-case review of listed merchants, and ruled out the ones the merchant had already burned an attempt with.
Weeks 3-5
Remediation file build
Documented the original dispute from the merchant's side, ratio history since listing, and the operational fixes made, addressed directly rather than omitted.
Weeks 6-7
Single sequenced application
Filed one fully-prepared application to the best-fit acquirer rather than several parallel ones, protecting the remaining options.
Week 8

Acquirer approved the account under standard MATCH-aware terms, with tighter reserve conditions disclosed upfront.
